Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system that is recognized as the international mark of excellence for green building in 150 countries. Green buildings create a healthier working environment for staff and tenants, through better air ventilation and more natural daylight. Green buildings reduce waste, conserve energy, decrease water consumption, and drive innovation. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that the Quarry Park Heritage Arts Centre building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
