Thompson Off-Leash Dog Park

Thompson Off-Leash Park is located at the corner of 9th Ave South & 1st St West. 

The park is named after Ross Thompson who served as mayor of the Town of Stonewall from 2002 - 2014.

The Off-Leash Dog Park officially opened on September 10, 2020. On May 27, 2024, the Town of Stonewall installed a  second fenced area for small dogs.

The park offers an enclosed space of 425' x 175' where your furry friends can run and play with others. Additionally, the park offers trees, open space, benches, pergolas, water and bags available for owners to pick up dog waste, along with garbage cans for them to dispose of the bags.

OFF-LEASH AREA RULES

By entering the Thompson Off-Leash Dog Park you are acknowledging and agreeing to abide by the following rules:

  • All dogs to be accompanied by and under control of their owner
  • Off-leash use permitted within fenced area only.
  • Vicious dogs are not permitted within the fenced area.
  • Aggressive dogs must be muzzled. Any dog showing aggressive behaviour must be removed from the area
  • Do not let children run unattended in the dog off-leash area. Even the most calm dog can be startled by unwanted attention/noise.
  • If your dog digs a hole, please fill it in.
  • Pick-up after your dog, no one likes surprises underfoot.
  • Respect your neighbourhood. Please limit excessive barking.
  • Report any site maintenance issues to 204-467-7979.
  • Do not bring other types on animals into the dog off-leash area.

SMALL DOG AREA - New for 2024

The Town of Stonewall is excited to offer a secondary space for smaller dogs! A small dog is described as not being higher than 16 inches at shoulder height and no more than 25 pounds in weight. Please be advised that the same rules apply in the small dog area as the regular dog area.
