Walking/Hiking Trails

Have some free time? Why not take a walk in the park. Stop by our front desk and ask for a copy of the Trail Brochure.

We have many great hiking/walking/biking trails throughout the park. Note: Quarry Park is an on-leash facility for all pets.

Take a walk through our historic Interpretive Trail. Stop by the Heritage Arts Centre to pick up a trail guide brochure and learn about the park's history as a Limestone Quarry. If you are an avid rockhound then you might be interested in fossil hunting! The park is full of fossils from the Ordovician Period. Some can be seen in the walls and ground, while others can be found laying on the ground. Feel free to keep any loose fossils that you find! We have had people find different kinds of Brachiopods, Gastropods, Corals, Ammonites, Worm Tunnels, Crinoids and much more!

Bring your binoculars and enjoy a beautiful afternoon walking through the area. If you enjoy bird watching there are many different types of wildlife that live or visit the park including, Horned Owls, eagles, Pileated Woodpeckers, songbirds, deer, rabbits and muskrats.

Our park is a natural habitat for native plants and pond dwellers. Interesting bugs, tadpoles and other creatures can be found within the pond and the park! In the springtime, tadpoles can be found in abundance near the edge of the pond. We've even had muskrats make our pond their home.

Interested in an interactive hike? Pick up one of our free Scavenger Hunt lists at the HAC building or borrow one of our Geocaching kits. *There are different options available for younger kids and for older kids/adults.

Please leave the park as you found it. Do not litter, do not pick plants/flowers and do not harm creatures within the park. This is their home too and we share it with them.
