Toboganning

Tobogganing at Jimm's Hill is a very popular activity for anyone in the town and surrounding areas. There is plenty of space along the embankment which allows for large numbers of people to enjoy sliding. There is also many different angles of slopes which permits young children to enjoy the hill as well.

The hill is widely known as Jimm's Hill, even by people in Winnipeg, but why is it called Jimm's Hill?

Jimm's Hill was named after a local citizen who was involved in the creation of Quarry Park when the quarry closed operations.  Jimm and his family have lived in Stonewall most of their lives and he has greatly impacted community development in various areas including the development of Quarry Park and Community Living.

In 1986, at 28 years old, Jimm Simon was hired to be the first Quarry Park Manager. In 1987, the town was busy growing and had accumulated a lot of extra dirt from the projects. Jimm asked if the dirt could be moved to the embankment on the edge of Quarry Park to create a hill, to which the town agreed. Shelley Proven (now a member of Communities in Bloom) had also been working at the park alongside Jimm and had made a joke about calling it "Jimm's Hill".  This name stuck. Many years later, the town and its people still know the hill to be called "Jimm's Hill". Most days in the winter you can find families there enjoying tobogganing and sliding together.
