Tours
Welcome to the Heritage Arts Centre’s Tours and Programming!
Tours are booked in advance with reception at the Heritage Arts Centre. Depending on your selection, tours consist of information on the Quarry and how the kilns were used to create lime powder, a refresher on the Rock cycle, information about the Ordovician Sea, how fossils are created and fossil hunting, the town and its people, historical buildings and the old limestone businesses throughout Stonewall.
Tours are typically completed after a hike through the park where our Interpreters show visitors the different historical spots in the park and typically end by showing them the best place to go fossil hunting! Interpreters will assist visitors in identifying the fossils they find, and the best part is you get to keep the fossils!
Keep an eye out for these native plant species throughout the park: Common Milkweed (favorite/hostplant of the monarch butterfly), Saskatoon Berries, Chokecherries, Yellow Lady Slippers, Yellow Clematis and Wild Roses.
*Despite the temptation to pick the beautiful plants, please leave the flowers/vegetation be! The creatures in the park need them for their habitats.
