Art Gallery

The Stonewall Art Group formed over 30 years ago as a Lion's Manor program where residents could create art together. Since then, the group has relocated into the community and have taken up residence at the Quarry Park Heritage Arts Centre.

The members congregate at the Centre on Monday afternoons from 1 to 4, from September to May. Group members work on individual artwork and assist, mentor and coach each other. Membership is now in excess of 50 artists of all ages and skill levels. Oil, acrylic, water colour, charcoal, pencil crayon and every other imaginable medium are utilized as the members explore their artistic destiny.

The group carries out many projects each year, with the Heritage Arts Centre Lobby wall gallery being the main one. The lobby has a large, themed art display that the group turns over several times each year. In addition, the members of the group are very proud of their Heritage Wall project. This is a permanent display of more than 40 works of art chronicling the history of Stonewall through portraiture of town builders and representation of significant town buildings from days gone by.

The group always welcome new members, just drop in at the Centre on one of the meeting days or email them at stonewallartgroup@gmail.com. Some of the artwork can be purchased. Contact the Heritage Arts Centre at 204-467-7980 for more information.
