Snow Clearing Update

Snow Clearing Update
The Town of Stonewall would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience over the past few weeks and sincerely apologize for the reduced level of snow clearing service experienced throughout the community.
While service levels have been impacted, it is important to recognize the dedication and hard work of the Town’s Public Works team. Throughout the holiday season, crews have worked extended hours, including overnight shifts and holiday schedules, to maintain road safety and continue snow clearing efforts under challenging conditions.
The delays were caused by a combination of factors. One major piece of snow clearing equipment experienced a mechanical failure and requires significant repairs. This equipment is not expected to be back in service until the end of January. In addition, workforce availability impacted our ability to maintain normal service levels.
Mayor Smith shared the Town’s appreciation for the community’s understanding:
“We know how important timely snow clearing is for safety and for day‑to‑day life in Stonewall,” said Mayor Smith. “While these circumstances were beyond our control, our staff are working extremely hard to restore service levels as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we complete the remaining work.”
Current Snow Clearing Timeline
Public Works crews continue to work diligently to clear remaining snow across town. If no additional snowfall occurs:
- Main Street is expected to be completed overnight on January 8
- All roads and sidewalks are expected to be cleared by January 14
Work is being prioritized to maintain safety and accessibility for residents, pedestrians, and local businesses.
The Town remains committed to keeping the community safe and will provide updates if timelines change due to weather or other circumstances.
Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation.
