Next step for Town in restoring safe services
STONEWALL, May 14, 2020 – On May 13th the Town of Stonewall Council reviewed its next steps in the context of the Phase One roll out of the Restoring Safe Services Plan announced by the Province of Manitoba. Based on that review, combined with the current staffing levels, the Town Council has confirmed that the following facilities will remain closed to the public for now:
- Veterans Memorial Sports Complex (including the Ice Palace and Curling Club)
- Heritage Arts Centre
- Play Structures at Town Playgrounds
- Cooke Field Soccer Pitches
- Fines Field Baseball Facilities
- Quarry Park Picnic Shelter
The Quarry Park Campground remains closed to the public but will be open to seasonal campers only as of May 15th, 2020. Campers must continue to maintain physical distancing, they must not gather in groups of more than 10, and they must not host visitors to their campsites. The washroom facilities and play structures at the campground remain closed for now.
"If things continue to progress postively, we will make plans to open the transient campground and washroom facilities sometime in June,” stated Mayor Clive Hinds.
The Town Office will be reopened to the public as of May 20 2020. Safety measures will be in place based on the Provincial guidelines, and social distancing must be adhered to. To that end we would ask that Stonewall residents continue to stay home as much as possible, practice proper social distancing by keeping a distance of at least 2 metres from others, avoid all non-essential trips in your community, do not gather in groups. Go for walks or get regular exercise, perform frequent good hand hygiene, avoid touching your face, and regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces within your homes and workplaces.
The Town also reminds residents that the recommendation of Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Roussin that there be no garage/yard sales held at this time.

Stonewall is a vibrant community, and by working together Council is confident we can reduce the health and safety risks for Town residents during these unprecedented times.
